Why I May be the best choice for your Project

About Me

My name is Fernando Fabian.
I’ve been photographing the world since 2001—professionally and as a lifelong obsession—working in both traditional black-and-white film and digital formats.
I started like many of us did: shooting 35mm black-and-white film, photographing my friends skateboarding with cheap disposable cameras. Those early days shaped how I still see photography today—not as something to perfect, but something to feel.
I work primarily with Nikon and Sony cameras, though I believe almost any camera can be magical—especially vintage point-and-shoots, which carry a warmth and honesty that’s hard to replicate. My favorite film camera I currently own is the Nikon F5, a machine that feels as timeless as the moments it captures.
While I photograph portraits, fashion, maternity, and boudoir, my true specialty is street photography—or what I like to call travel street photography. I’m drawn to moments that transcend a mere photograph: images that capture the soul of a place, the emotion of a fleeting second, and a small piece of history that will never happen the same way again.
My goal isn’t just to make beautiful images, but to create one-of-a-kind photographs—moments that may only occur once in a lifetime.
When I’m not behind the lens, you’ll find me gardening, thrift shopping, making jewelry, fishing, or traveling—especially to Japan, where I endlessly explore its streets, culture, and food. I also come from a background in cinematography, which deeply influences how I frame light, movement, and story.
I collect vintage digital and film cameras, but above all, I believe this:
Give a photograph enough time and it becomes unimportant. Give it even more time, and it becomes a treasure. Time is a bad mistress—it will only cause pain if you overthink it. So don’t. Go out, load a roll (or two), and shoot.

Every photograph I offer—whether commissioned or printed—is created with the belief that images become more valuable with time. I focus on one-of-a-kind moments that can’t be repeated, making each print a quiet piece of history rather than decoration. These are photographs meant to be lived with, revisited, and eventually treasured.

With over two decades of experience working in both film and digital photography, I bring intention, adaptability, and a deep respect for the moment to every shoot. When you hire me or collect one of my prints, you’re investing in a trained eye that understands timing, light, and storytelling—creating images that feel authentic, considered, and impossible to recreate.

“Why Work With Me”

I photograph with purpose. When you hire me or purchase a print, you’re choosing experience, patience, and a commitment to capturing moments that feel honest and enduring—images that don’t just document time, but hold it.
